Common Problems With Lawns

1. Mowing
a. Too short--3.5-4.0 inches finished height is recommended.
b. Dull blade--frays ends of blades, making lawn look ragged and brown.
c. Riding mowers used on small lawns, and weed eaters cutting large areas.
d. Mower heavy/Operated carelessly/Too fast--leaves ruts and tire marks where turning.
e. All of the above. (More common that I like to see).

2. Watering
a. Irrigation system coverage/amount not adequate for current 1 day water restrictions.--modify system.
b. Irrigation system not monitored consistently.--check it weekly or at least monthly.
c. Over watering in rainy season/ winter months.--pay attention to the weather.

One or more of these preventable problems may be found on most lawns. Combinations of these factors will likely be present on a problem lawn. Corrected, they will help the lawn reach its full potential.
Mowing the lawn less frequently, as in every other week can help it survive the once weekly water restriction. The new water restrictions do not apply to reclaimed water.
